WWI Discussion Group

When: Thu., May 1, 7-8:30 p.m. 2014

Hosted by: Tom Callahan In every village and city in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States there is a monument to the sacrifices made by the men and women who fought "the War to end all Wars." World War I destroyed almost an entire generation of men and was the catalyst of massive social change across both Europe and the United States. The "Great War" also led directly to the horrors of World War II. In this discussion group we will examine the war's beginnings, take an overview of the countries that fought in its many battles, and look at the human cost involved. The group will be offered readings that shine light upon facets of this global conflict and we will discuss its effects both abroad and locally.
