Voice & Viol: History’s Forgotten Dynamic Duo

When: Sun., July 8, 1 p.m.

Lyracle
 Ashley Mulcahy, mezzo-soprano;
James Peretta, viola da gamba

 Experience the forgotten sonic landscape of voice and viola da gamba: the rich bass of the cello combined with the colorful harmonies of the lute, and the warmth of the mezzo-soprano voice. The tradition of accompanying the voice with viola da gamba began in 16th century Italy and spread to England by the 17th century. Our program will feature some of the “Greatest Hits” of Italian and English songs of love, despair, and wit.
