THEATER | "Loot"

For its summer staged reading, The Penfield Players will dig into "Loot," a (very) dark comedy of questionable taste. Written by Joe Orton, the play follows Dennis, who works in a funeral parlor, and Hank, who recently lost his mother, as they pull their first heist as young thieves. After robbing the bank next door to the funeral parlor, the two find the perfect place to hide their loot: in Hank's mother's coffin. Things soon become complicated, however, when the body of Hank's displaced mother continues to pop up at inopportune times and an inspector shows up to do some digging.

A reading of "Loot," directed by Jerry Argetsinger, will be performed Saturday, July 30, at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield. 2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
