Mount Hope Cemetery is an evolving cultural landscape. This extensive tour will explore the physical and cultural geography of the cemetery, the important people buried there, their impact on their times and upon ours today. Additionally, the tour will explain Mount Hope’s evolution from America’s first municipally-owned Victorian cemetery and the customs of that time, to modern trends in natural burials and cremations. There will be a half-hour break for lunch by the fountain, as early Rochesterians would have done. Bring your own, or order on the day of the tour (cash only).
