Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion Welcomes All to Hug-A-Tree

When: Sat., April 26, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 2014

This special day-long workshop will help you learn the art of planting a tree from Sonnenberg’s Executive Director and Horticulturist David Hutchings; how to best use mulch with the trees in your backyard from Finger Lakes Community College’s Berna Ticonchuk; and the benefits of creating rain gardens in urban areas from the Tree Advisory Board of Canandaigua. Representatives will discuss the rain gardens along the city’s Main Street and tree preservation throughout Canandaigua. In the afternoon, Hutchings will also discuss The Vanishing Act Exhibit on loan from the Morton Arboretum and Sonnenberg’s tree preservation. In the morning, there will also be a special tree planting to honor the late Dr. William Clark, a generous benefactor to Sonnenberg and a direct descendant of the site’s founder, Mary Clark Thompson.

Price: $20
