In just a year, The Spirit Room has already established itself as a premier destination for listening to compelling music and poetry performances while sipping craft cocktails. In addition to providing an important platform for Rochester-area artists, The Spirit Room has also made a conscious effort to present socially conscious art that represents the experiences of women and minorities. This Sunday, the venue celebrates its first year of operation with an impressive trio of artists: local favorite, singer-songwriter Cammy Enaharo; poet Dominique Christina, twice a Women of the World Poetry Slam champion; and poet-musician Mary Lambert, who famously sang vocals on the Grammy-nominated Macklemore song "Same Love."
The one-year anniversary show takes place on Sunday, October 7, 7 p.m. at The Spirit Room, 139 State Street. Suggested donation. 397-7595. facebook.com/TheSpiritRoomRochester; cammyenaharo.bandcamp.com; dominiqechristina.com; marylambertsings.com.
