Shadows of the Lynching Tree

Powerful film tells the story of the “Waco Horror”. Jesse Washington, a 17 year-old black farm hand was tortured, lynched and torched in front of the McLennan County Courthouse. More than 15,000 traveled to Waco, Texas to watch and participate. It sheds light on U.S. lynching history and asks, “Does lynching have contemporary counterparts?” Come see the film and join the conversation.
