CANCELLED | Leon Russell

by

Main Street Armory has announced that Leon Russell's April 25 appearance has been cancelled. Refunds will be given at the point of purchase. Below is the original choice.

Singer-songwriter Leon Russell's name can be found in the liner notes of countless records. As a session musician in Los Angeles, Russell played on Phil Spector productions, records by the Byrds, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and Gary Lewis & the Playboys, and he played piano in the house band for ABC's weekly rock show, "Shindig!" In the 1970's, Russell made the transition to bandleader and launched a highly successful solo career. More recently, in 2010, he joined forces with Elton John for the album, "The Union," which also featured Booker T. Jones, Neil young, Robert Randolph and Brian Wilson, and was Russell's highest charting studio album since 1972. Russell has since been recognized for his contribution to music; he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.

Leon Russell will perform with Riley Etheridge Jr. on Friday, April 25, 8 p.m., at Main Street Armory, 900 East Main St. Tickets are $35-$40. Rochestermainstreetarmory.com; Leonrussellrecords.com.
