If fans were afraid that Ed Roland's Sweet Tea Project would mark his departure from Collective Soul, they needn't be. The band is still tearing up the highway, touring with the Goo Goo Dolls this summer. And with seven number one rock hits to its credit, the band clearly knows what it's doing. Emerging from the big rock of the 1990's, the Georgia-based band wrote songs with unbelievably catchy hooks, without sacrificing any of the guitar-driven largess that was so tantamount in that era. CS also made room for a sort of indie-rock subtlety its contemporaries did not. "See What You Started By Continuing" is the latest Collective Soul offering and its ninth overall. Before its show at Darien Lake, Collective Soul will play a free in-store performance at the Record Archive (33 1/3 Rockwood Street) on Saturday, August 20, 1 p.m. 244-1210; recordarchive.com.
