Rochester expanded rapidly during the Progressive Era in the early 20th Century. This period of "fierce discontent" and reform was particularly evident in Rochester; the Progressives buried in Mount Hope led movements felt far beyond Western New York.

Dennis Carr is the tour guide. He has been leading tours for over 40 years at the Cemetery. He is also on the Board of the Friends of Mount Hope.
