Publick Musick: Adventurous Italians

When: Thu., Feb. 18, 7:30-8:30 p.m. 2016

Publick Musick performs Italian music for strings and organ from the 1600s, a time of great musical innovation that saw the birth of the ensemble sonata as one facet of the new musical style that we now call the baroque. This era also saw the development in Italy of music written specifically and idiomatically for the instruments of the violin family. The program will feature works of Biagio Marini, Giovanni Battista Fontana, G. P. Cima, and Dario Castello.
