Beyond being delightful imagery, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong is a contemporary call to a musical movement that bloomed decades ago. Perhaps most easily considered a psychedelic jam band, this four-piece is clearly making music they love celebrating live. Their kind disposition, paired with a groovy intelligence—featuring plenty of articulate solos and funky wah-wah pedal —positions the Baltimore-based band well within the jam-band space, along with renowned groups like moe., Disco Biscuits, and Dopapod.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will be performing Friday, April 12 with Cycles and Saturday, April 13 with Kitchen Dwellers, 9 p.m. at Anthology, 336 East Avenue. $20.50-$25. 484-1964. anthologylive.com; pigeonsplayingpingpong.com.
