POP | The Demos

Jason Milton, front man of local quintet The Demos, has seen his band's debut album, "Lovely" reach number one on FMQB's Sub-modern Album chart but counts performing outside in Times Square as one of his most surreal moments. The Demos played to a packed crowd at New York City's CBGB Music & Film Festival in 2013. "Lovely" was distributed in Japan and a resulting promotional campaign included huge cardboard cutouts of the band at Tower Records in Tokyo. That album also sold out on its initial Japanese run. Established in 2002 by Milton (vocals, guitar) and Callan Saunders (bass), The Demos are a classic power-pop band in the traditional sense; a nostalgic fusion of strong melodies and pleasant harmonies crafted to the highest standards. "We've been working on our new record for a while," Milton says. "It's getting close to being ready. In 2015, you will be hearing some new music from us."

The Demos perform Saturday, January 3, at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue. 9 p.m. $6-$8.;
