Sun, Oct. 18, 7-9 p.m. Najla Said, daughter of Palestinian poet Edward Said, performs her play, “Palestine”. Najla grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with a Palestinian-Lebanese family and many Jewish friends. She is the author of “Looking for Palestine: Growing Up Confused in an Arab-American Family” (2013), described by reviews as a “wry, funny, and non-polemical account of her search for her ethnic identity in contemporary America”. Her performance will resonate with people from many different ethnic and religious backgrounds. Najla’s father, Edward Said, was a well-known Palestinian-American scholar at Columbia University.
