Walk in the front door of Mex and make a decision: veer off to the right and find a cozy perch in the moodily lit bar, or follow the curling staircase to the second-floor dining area, where you can relax amidst Day of the Dead-inspired art and choose from tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and chiles rellenos, as well as a few other dishes you might not find at other Mexican eateries. A limited menu is also available at the bar, along with beer, wine, and cocktails, including perhaps the best no-frills, rocks-and-salt margarita in town.
