Know Your Rights: What to Do When Stopped By the Police

When: Thu., Feb. 1, 6:30-8 p.m. 2018

Taught by Assistant Public Defender Michael Lopez, this class will cover the essential basics of what to do (and not do) when stopped by the police. Participants will discuss both street (when a person is on foot) and motor vehicle stops and searches. Understanding a few basic rights can make a huge difference to a case. Participants will leave better equipped to protect themselves both legally and physically if they find themselves detained by the police. Open to the community and students ages 15 and older. RSVP required as seating is limited.
