Improvisation Without Inhibition

Alice Kay Kanack, author of the Creative Ability Development series of books and CDs, and director of the Kanack School of Music, will demonstrate methods for developing students’ comfort with improvisation, and talk about current brain research that supports these methods. Her lecture will be combined with performances by the Creative Ability Development Tour Group, students ages 6-18 who travel across North America giving improvised concerts. There will be a book signing after the program. Copies of Alice Kay Kanack’s newly released teaching manual “Improvising String Quartets,”as well as copies of her other books, will be available for purchase.
