When: Sun., Dec. 2, 3 p.m. 2018
The Geneseo Piano Trio (Andrew Bergevin, violin; Jonathan Gonder, piano; James Kirkwood, cello) will perform a program of standards and rarities. Beethoven's youthful and playful Piano Trio in G major, Op. 1, no. 2, in the mold of his teacher Haydn, is followed by a seldom-heard trio by Joachim Raff, the Trio no. 3 in A minor. Being a contemporary of Johannes Brahms and Richard Wagner, Raff was considered a pre-eminent composer in the late 19th century, but suffered a subsequent decline in popularity.
