Baby Story Time: Monday, June 3, 9:30 – 10:00 AM.
For children ages birth through 2 years old, with a caregiver. Stories, songs, fingerplays and play time. No registration.

Story Time with Mary Jo: Monday June 3, 10:15 – 11:00 AM.
For ages 2 through 5 with a caregiver. Stories, songs, circle games, snack, fingerplays and toys are all part of this program. No registration.

Ideas & Authors: Monday, May 6, 7:00 – 8:30 PM.
Book discussion group for adults, on the first Monday of each month. This month we will discuss The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. Books are available at the Circulation Desk one month in advance. No registration.

Story Time with Hannah: Tuesday, June 4, 10:15 – 11:00 AM.
For ages 2 through 5 with a caregiver. Stories, songs, circle games, snack, fingerplays and toys in this program. No registration.

Time For Tots: Wednesday, June 5, 10:15 – 11:15 AM.
Ages 1 through 5 with a caregiver. Forty minutes of free play with toys, followed by a short story time. No registration.

Mindfulness Workshop: Wednesday, June 5, 7:00-8:00 PM.
Learn and practice mindfulness skills to calm your mind in stressful situations, enhance effectiveness at work, improve relationships and increase self-acceptance. Participants are encouraged to bring a cushion for comfort and enhanced meditation practice. Registration required.

Late Opening: Thursday, June 6. Library opens at 11:00 AM on the first Thursday of every month for staff training.

Sit, Knit & Stitch: Thursday, June 6, 6:30 – 8:30 PM.
Bring your own project and enjoy the company of others who enjoy needlecraft like knitting, stitching and crocheting. Beginners to experts are welcome. Bring a snack and beverage if you wish. No registration.

Technology for Seniors: Friday, June 7. Choose from one of three, one-hour sessions: 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:30 PM.
Each month we tackle a new topic. If you own an electronic device, please bring it with you, otherwise you may borrow one from the library during the class. Registration is required and limited to 1 or 2 people per session. Register online or by calling the library at 247-6446.

Pizza Pizza!: Saturday, June 8, 11:00 AM-12:30 PM.
Not all pizza is the same. Learn the history and development of America's favorite food – and it's New York origin. Chef Jeffory "Cheffory" McLean will give the details while making three different varieties for you to sample. Registration required.

Geology Rocks!: Saturday, June 8, 1:00-4:00 PM.
Meet local geologist, Fred Haynes, and learn about New York geology! Fred will be set up in our atrium and ready to talk with you! Bring along any rocks/fossils you’d like identified. You can even go home with an egg carton full of minerals you personally select. For all ages, and no registration is required.

Decorative DeCoupage Mini-Birdhouses: Saturday, June 8, 2:00-3:00 PM.
Would you like to make a plain birdhouse into a real showpiece? Something adorable and unique? Deb Coller will help you make your own decorative decoupage mini-birdhouse. All materials will be provided. Registration is requested due to limited materials.

Baby Sing, Sign, and Play: Wednesday, June 12, 10:15 – 10:45 AM.
For ages 6 – 24 months with a caregiver. We use music, books and other playful activities to help tots and adults learn simple ASL signs for pre-verbal communication. No registration.

Friends of the Library Summer Book Sale: Thursday, June 13, 4:00 – 8:00PM (members’ preview - $5 to join), Friday, June 14, 9:30AM – 4:30PM, and Saturday, June 15, 10:00AM – 4:30PM.
The Friends of Gates Public Library will have a large selection of books, puzzles, games, coffee table books and DVDs for sale in our atrium.

Unsolved Rochester: Saturday, June 15, 6:-9:00 PM.
The Gates Library Foundation will be hosting their 3rd annual fundraiser with true crime author and journalist, Gary Craig and guest host, Nikki Rudd on the evening of Saturday, June 15th. Gary will discuss one of the most infamous heists in America - Rochester’s unsolved Brink’s armored car robbery of 1993. Registration is required. General registration is free. For ages 1 - 5 with a caregiver. Hear stories while stretching and strengthening your body. The stories will inspire children's minds as their bodies are busy supporting them. No registration.

Mermaid and Merman Parade: Saturday, June 22, 10:30-11:30 AM.
Join us for mermaid stories, crafts, and a mermaid parade to celebrate the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. For all ages and all types of merpeople. Registration requested.

Get Ready for the 2020 Census: Monday, June 24, 6:30-8:30 PM.
Learn more about the changes in the upcoming 2020 census and what you can do to help spread the word about the census in the community. Data used from the census determines the federal funds New York State receives and can affect our Congressional representation. Learn the tools to make the census count as accurate as possible. Registration is requested.

Kick off summer reading with Checkers, Snoozer, and ice cream sundaes. Please register so we have enough ice cream!

Floral Design: Repurposing Posies: Wednesday, June 26, 7:00-8:30 PM.
Master Designer, Cheri Lynn, will revamp a floral container or vessel with fresh blooms while teaching the fundamentals of floral design. Registration is requested.

#ReadWomen Book Club: Thursday, June 27, 6:30 – 7:30 PM.
This book club exclusively reads female authors. This month we are reading The Night Diary by Veera Hiranandani. Registration is requested.

Lego Club: Thursday, June 27, 6:30 – 7:30PM.
Ages 5 through 12. Come build with our Legos! Registration is required.

Super Salads: Saturday, June 29, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Chef Jeffory "Cheffory" McLean will demonstrate how to use the season's freshest ingredients combined with the highest quality oils and vinegars to create restaurant quality salads. Taste the delicious creations and take the recipes home! Registration required.
