When: Sat., Feb. 1, 4:45 p.m. 2014
Temple Beth El will team up with the Monroe County American Legion to host this year's Four Chaplains Ecumenical Service to honor four army chaplains of varying religious denominations who in 1943 sacrificed their own lives for others when their troop transport ship was sunk by Germans during WWII. The service is held at a different faith house of worship each year, where residents gather to hear the heroic story. The Jewish War Veterans will sponsor refreshments at 4:45 pm, followed by a 5:15 pm Maariv (evening) service and Four Chaplains Program. Contact the Temple Beth El office (585) 473-1770.
