Exploring Celtic Roots through Music

When: Fri., March 15, 7 p.m. 2013

The Striking Strings Hammered Dulcimer Ensemble will play music drawn from the Celtic, and especially the Irish, traditions. The audience will have an opportunity to learn about the instrument and to sing along with the players on familiar Irish tunes. The ensemble includes approximately 15 individuals based at the Eastman School of Music's Community Music School and led by Mitzie Collins; it is the largest hammered dulcimer ensemble in the US, and also includes fiddle, bass, accordian, recorder, flute and guitar players, providing well-rounded music.
