Daily Choices: What to do on Monday, February 18

Music: Michael Angelakos, a.k.a. the mastermind behind Passion Pit, has risen to fame with songs that sound light and exuberant, but have dark lyrical themes of bipolar disorder, financial collapse, and romantic devastation underlying the dance beats. Whether you want to feel for Angelakos or just dance along to your favorite tracks from 2009’s "Manners" and last year’s even better "Gossamer," you’ll find joy in the pain when Passion Pit performs at the Main Street Armory (900 E. Main St.) at 7 p.m. tonight. Matt & Kim open the concert. Tickets are $35 in advance through and $35 at the door. We'll also be there, so keep an eye tomorrow for a concert review and slideshow.

Film: This is the last day to surmount the awesome spectacles of the 37th annual BANFF Film Festival, a selection of mountain films from across the world, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Ingles Auditorium of the Rochester Institute of Technology (One Lomb Memorial Drive). Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door for RIT students; $13 advance and $15 at the door for RIT employees and alumni; and $16 advance and $18 at the door for the public. They can be purchased at

Music: Demitrio Albano, otherwise known as Drumzoo, has gained prominence on Youtube for his drum remixes of hip-hop hits. You can see his drumming dominance in real life when he performs at Water Street Music Hall (204 N. Water St.) at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 through and $15 at the door.
