Cultural Conversations with Poetry

When: Sat., May 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. 2014

he Rundel Library will be hosting a reception for Beau Beausoleil, who co-edited Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here. Inspired by the shock of the March 5, 2007 bombing of Baghdad’s famous street of booksellers and scribes, Beau Beausoleil collected poems and responses by poets and writers around the world. In this course, we will explore poetic traditions mirrored in the Persian culture in both ancient and contemporary poems in the above-mentioned book. These examples will inform both reading and writing as a celebration of the will to live and “survive in joy.”

Price: $40-$45
