When: Sat., Oct. 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 2018
The multi-award winning husband/wife artist duo, Babe and Carla Hemlock (Kahnawake Mohawk) will be displaying their talents for the public in cradleboard making. Woodcarver and painter Babe Hemlock constructs wooden cradleboards using his own artistic imagery, while Carla creates the textiles that cover the cradleboards. Together, they create some of the most beautiful and elaborate cradleboards throughout Haudenosaunee territory, one of which is displayed in Ganondagan’s exhibit, "Hodinöhsö:ni’ Women: From the Time of Creation." On a revolving stand for 360-degree viewing, it showcases glass beadwork on a wool wrapper on the front, and a painted wood carving on the back.
Price: With museum admission.
