CLASSICAL | Ying Quartet with Zuill Bailey

The always phenomenal (and consistently sold out) Ying Quartet will be joined on Sunday by Grammy Award-winning cellist Zuill Bailey for the final Eastman-Ranlet concert of the 2016-17 season. Bailey — the artistic director of the El Paso Pro Musica and the Sitka, Alaska, Summer Music Festival; a professor of cello at the University of Texas; and prisoner No. 97D403, sentenced to 22 years for murder, on HBO's "Oz" — has been featured with numerous symphonies around the world and has collaborated with Itzhak Perlman, Andrew Litton, and Jacques Lacombe, among others. On the afternoon's program is Prokofiev's Second String Quartet and Beethoven's "Kreutzer Sonata." And in the middle, the Eastman School's quartet-in-residence and Bailey will perform their own arrangement of Schumann's Cello Concerto.

The Ying Quartet will perform with Zuill Bailey on Sunday, April 2, at Kilbourn Hall, Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street. 3 p.m. $22-$32. 274-3000;
