Following the triumphant premiere of the opera "Don't Blame Anyone" last fall, composer and Eastman School of Music professor Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon and soprano Tony Arnold will reunite for the debut performance of "Songtree for Soprano and Chamber Ensemble." Once again, Zohn-Muldoon utilizes the poetry of contemporary Mexican writer Raúl Aceves — this time, juxtaposing it with a trio of Shakespeare sonnets. The composer's highly engaging style melds avant-garde sensibilities with subtle and idiosyncratic lyricism. In bringing "Songtree" to life, there is no better contemporary classical vocalist for the task than Arnold. Tim Weiss will conduct.
Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon will present this Faculty Artist Series concert on Sunday, September 10, at Kilbourn Hall, Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street. 3 p.m. $10 general admission; free students with UR ID. 274-3000; eastmantheatre.org; ricardozohnmuldoon.com.
