CLASSICAL | Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra

by

Looking to add a classical touch to your Mother's Day? Join the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra for its annual Mother's Day concert. The program includes the lovely Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture by Tchaikovsky, which Director Casey Springstead says is the most challenging piece this year for the HYSO. Additional composers on the program include Dvorak, Bizet, Hue, Bruch, and Novotney. The concert will feature concerto competition winners Naomi Harrow, violin, and Kaia Megiel, flute. Also conducting will be apprentice Alex O'Connor. The HYSO is a full orchestra for advanced musicians in grades 7-12.

The concert takes place Saturday, May 12, 7 p.m. at Hochstein School of Music & Dance, 50 N. Plymouth Ave. $5. 454-4596, hochstein.org.
