CLASSICAL | Brass and Organ Spring Spectacular

The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester will present a packed program on Friday, March 13, with its Brass and Organ Spring Spectacular. The concert features members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's brass section: trumpeters Douglas Prosser, Wesley Nance, and Herbert Smith; W. Peter Kurau, horn; trombonists Mark Kellogg, Timothy Smith (of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra), and Jeffrey Gray; and W. Craig Sutherland, tuba. As well as percussionist Jim Tiller (also with the RPO); and organist Peter DuBois. Two of the evening's works are arrangements written specifically for this concert: Donald Hunsberger arranged Walton's "Crown Imperial, A Coronation March," and Wesley Nance arranged Strauss's "Festmusik der Stadt Wien." Also on the program is a composition from G. Nathan Stang, the SCMR Composition Competition student prize winner.
