The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester kicks off a season-long, around-the-world musical tour this weekend. The ports of call for the group's 39th season will include France, Germany, Russia, and Asia, winding up in good old America. But the journey begins with a trip back in time for "Baroque Around the World." Or at least Baroque Around Europe, with sonatas by composers representing Germany (Telemann and J.S. Bach, including his "Brandenburg Concerto No. 2"), Bohemia (Jan Dismas Zelenka), France (Jean-Marie Leclair), and Italy (Corelli and Vivaldi). Tour guides and artistic directors Juliana Athayde and Erik Behr, performing on violin and oboe respectively, will be joined by a large crew of sterling players from the RPO and Eastman.
Society for Chamber Music presents "Baroque Around the World" on Sunday, September 20, Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs Street. 3 p.m. $30. 413-1574; chambermusicrochester.org.
