The pounding drums in "Contra" and the eerie synths in "Metroid" make for captivating sounds in and of themselves, but what happens when they're repurposed by contemporary musicians? Rochester Chip, a monthly series of concerts that hosts artists who repurpose sounds from old video game consoles, is presenting a show headlined by Buffalo's Danimal Cannon and rounded out by Rochester-based chiptune artists Little Paw (who's releasing an EP at this show), B.C. Likes You, and Precious Kindred, and with visuals by SBTHREE, it's tough to imagine a better showcase for chiptune's diverse and passionate fanbase.
Danimal Cannon, Little Paw, B.C. Likes You, Precious Kindred, SBTHREE will perform Friday, February 12, at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue. 9 p.m. $8-$10. bugjar.com.
