Caring for, Instead of Comparing, our Bodies: Promoting Health and Well-Being Instead of Size

When: Fri., Feb. 20, 12-1:15 p.m. 2015

Kathy Kater, an internationally-known psychotherapist and author, will discuss the critical need for weight stigma reduction to help kick off National Eating Disorders Awareness Week in the School of Nursing auditorium, (1W304). Kater’s book, “Healthy Bodies: A Comprehensive Curriculum to Address Body Image, Eating, Fitness and Weight Concerns in Today’s Challenging Environment,” addresses the root causes of body dissatisfaction and was among the first of its kind to demonstrate significant measurable improvement in weight-related attitudes and reduced risk factors for disordered eating in pubescent children.
