BLUES/PROGRESSIVE | Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy

by

This show is for all you six-string aficionados, you swingin' Guitarzans, and guit-fiddle mechanics. Presenting the guitar from its muddy roots to its stratospheric vapor trail will be this expansive double bill starring blues legend Buddy Guy and innovative guitar master Jeff Beck. At 79, Guy still blazes across the stage playing the Chicago-style electric blues he was instrumental in creating along with Muddy Waters and Junior Wells. Jeff Beck has been quoted saying "Without Guy, there would be no Hendrix or me." But without Beck's epic fusion, the limits of the guitar would have gone unchallenged. Once a Yardbird, Beck went on to cult appreciation, never quite breaking into mainstream prominence like bandmates, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Regardless Beck is in his own universe.

Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy play Friday, July 29, at CMAC, 3355 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua. 8 p.m. $45-$85. cmacevents.com.
