WEEK AHEAD: Bicycle plan, Vargas meeting

by

The first of two public meetings on the City of Rochester’s Bicycle Boulevards Plan is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, in the Kate Gleason auditorium at the Central Library, 115 South Avenue.

The city, state Department of Transportation, Monroe County, Rochester Cycling Alliance, and the Genesee Transportation Council are developing a plan for implementing bicycle-friendly neighborhood streets to connect destinations throughout the city.

An overview of the project will be provided at the meeting, and members of the public may offer suggestions on desired routes, destinations, and other priorities. After the initial presentation, attendees will break into work groups.

If you can’t attend the meeting but would still like to offer suggestions, contact project manager Erik Frisch, (585) 428-6709, by Friday, February 21. BY CHRISTINE CARRIE FIEN

Rochester schools Superintendent Bolgen Vargas will hold his Coffee and Conversation meeting with parents, teachers, and students from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11.

The meeting is a chance for people question the superintendent and to bring him their concerns. It will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the district’s central office, 131 West Broad Street. BY TIM LOUIS MACALUSO
