At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the
Irondequoit Library Board of Trustees will hold a public information meeting on the
proposed re-vote on the town library proposal. It’ll be held in the Broderick Room at Town Hall, 1280 Titus Avenue.
Earlier this year, town residents overwhelmingly passed a measure allowing the town to borrow $13 million to build a new library on the Town Hall campus. The town’s two library branches would be consolidated into the new building.
After the vote, however, a group of residents sued the town, claiming that the board didn’t complete an adequate environmental review. The town completed a new environmental review and passed a new bond measure, which was subject to permissive referendum. At the end of August, a group of town residents, led by Richard Barone, submitted petitions to force a public vote. That vote will happen on December 14.
Organizers of Tuesday’s informational meeting say that it’ll provide residents with a chance to ask questions and to learn about the proposal.
