City Council candidates to debate

by

The Maplewood Neighborhood Association is holding a debate on Wednesday night for Rochester City Council candidates. There are five at-large seats open on Council this year.

Incumbents Dana Miller, Carolee Conklin, Matt Haag, Jackie Ortiz, and Loretta Scott will defend their seats against challengers Lisa Jacques, the Rev. Marlowe Washington, Anthony Giordano, and Ann Lewis in a September 10 Democratic primary election.

All five Council incumbents, as well as Washington, are also endorsed by third parties, so all will go on to the November general election regardless of the primary results. There they will face Green Party candidates Andrew Langdon, David Atias, and Dorothy Page.

All of the Democratic candidates, as well as two of the three Green Party candidates for Council, will participate in Wednesday’s debate. It’s at 7 p.m. at Aquinas Institute, 1127 Dewey Avenue.
