If you love a minimal aesthetic but also love acquiring new art objects, a fun trick is to pare down the palette. Unless you go for monochrome, you can't get more stripped down than black and white. This month Flower City Arts Center will host "White/Black Invitational," an exhibit of photography, prints, and ceramic objects by Marilyn Anderson, Pat Bacon, Carl Chiarenza, Lukas Eastman, Mitch Goldstein, Nancy Jurs, Kelly Justice, Johanna Keefe, Kyle Lascelle, Colleen McCall, Richard Margolis, Brooke Millecchia, Joanna Poag, Wolodymyr "Mirko" Pylyshenko, Ben Taylor, Hannah Thompsett, and Maliya Travers-Crumb.
Friday, May 10, through Saturday, June 22. Flower City Arts Center, 713 Monroe Avenue. Free admission. Each gallery (Printmaking & Book Arts, Ceramics, and Photography & Digital Arts) has different hours; visit rochesterarts.org for more info.
