Currently exhibited at Main Street Arts is the gallery's annual survey of contemporary drawing. The Upstate New York Drawing Invitational features six artists from the Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo regions who use drawing as a primary method of creative expression, but the show pushes the boundaries of what can be considered a "drawing." You'll see charcoal and pencil drawings, but the show also includes mixed media works that incorporate collage, painting, and sculpture. Featured artists are Mandi Antonucci (Geneseo), Colleen Buzzard (Rochester), Tricia Butski (Buffalo), Faithanne Flesher Carapella (Syracuse), Kathleen Ferrell (Rochester), and Bill Stephens (Honeoye Falls).
The Upstate NY Drawing Invitational continues through Friday, September 28, at Main Street Arts, 20 West Main Street, Clifton Springs. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission is free. 315-462-0210; mainstreetartsgallery.com.
