The Gallery at More Fire Glass Studio offers Rochester more than glass art. Its upcoming exhibition, "Stephanie Del Monte: Transcendent" features large wall hangings constructed of wood and fiber. Del Monte's works are introspective and represent her own meditations through intricate knots and weavings in hand-dyed cotton and wool, and botanically-dyed rope, suspended from carved wooden forms. The scale of the works invites viewers to trace these threads with their eyes, lifting their gaze in their own meditation as they follow the strands skyward.
"Stephanie Del Monte: Transcendent" is on view at More Fire Glass Studio, 36 Field Street, from Thursday, September 6, to Saturday, October 6. A public reception will be held on Thursday, September 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday and Tuesday by appointment or happenstance, and Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 242-0450; morefireglass.com.
