Technology, paint, and collage are combined in the upcoming exhibition "OBJEKT: Matter in the Digital Age," featuring new works by artist Rebecca Aloisio. Hoping to examine the notion of truth in imagery, Aloisio's large-scale works are influenced by the glut of visual information that we are inundated with on a daily basis. For the artist, her works are not just an abstraction, but a challenge to the viewer to think critically and question the authenticity of the images in front of them.
"OBJEKT" is on view at University Gallery, Rochester Institute of Technology, 166 Lomb Memorial Drive James E Booth Hall, Room 2765, from August 20 through October 6. A reception will be held on Friday, September 14, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the addition of Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. starting August 27. 475-2866; firstname.lastname@example.org; rit.edu/fa/gallery.
