Folkfaces Fest has a strong DIY vibe, but it ain't small potatoes. Presented by the beloved Buffalo band Folkfaces and its charismatic frontman Tyler Westcott, the lineup is a sonic smorgasbord of nearly 50 acts, featuring many of the Western New York folk scene's movers and shakers. Rochester concertgoers will recognize Matthew O'Brian, Jackson Cavalier, Dirty Blanket, Seth Faergolzia, The Brothers Blue, Her Dad's Banjo, Zack Rabbet Futt, and many more. The coup here is the booking of headliner Dom Flemons (pictured), co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Flemons' brilliant blend of old-time roots music, blues, and Americana is a throwback, but the delivery is fresh.
Folkfaces Fest runs from Thursday, October 11 through Sunday, October 14, at Cherry Hill Campground, 1516 Sumner Road, Darien Center. Single-day passes, $25; weekend passes, $45-$55. facebook.com/folkfaces; theamericansongster.com.
