- Rochester Lyric Opera has reportedly bought this East Avenue church for performance space.
A news conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, to
announce a new performing arts venue in the City of Rochester.
The event will be held at the
First Church of Christ, Scientist, 440 East Avenue.

reportedly buying the church for performance space.
Constantino’s Market opens in College Town on Thursday, April 9. The 21,000-square-foot store will offer locally-made goods and prepared foods.
Constantino’s opened its first store in downtown Cleveland in 2005.
April 9 is the 150th anniversary of Lee’s surrender to Grant at Appomattox Court House — the symbolic end of the Civil War. To commemorate that moment, the National Park Service is asking communities across the nation to join them in,"
Bells across the Land: A Nation Remembers Appomattox."
The first bell will be rung at Appomattox at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 9. Churches, schools, city halls, public buildings, etc. across the country are invited to participate by ringing bells at 3:15 p.m. Bells will be rung for four minutes, each minute representing a year of the bloodiest war in American history.

The Rochester Board of Education will hold a
public hearing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, to get input on the
2015-2016 budget for the city school district.
People who want to speak at the meeting are encouraged to register with the board in advance by calling (585) 262-8525. The hearing will be held at the district’s central office, 131 West Broad Street.
The
Rochester Chapter of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship will hold
a silent vigil in front of the Federal Building at 100 State Street. The vigil will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 6. Participants are encouraged to bring their own blanket, cushion, chair, or cloth to be comfortable during the meditation.
