At 7:35 p.m. Thursday, the Irondequoit Town Board
will hold an informal public hearing on neglected and troubled properties. The hearing will be held at the Irondequoit Town Hall, 1280 Titus Avenue.
The board will be working on legislation regarding such properties, Supervisor Adam Bello says in a post on the town’s website
. Officials want to hear from residents and business owners about how the properties are affecting their neighborhoods, he says.
Officials will also examine similar programs from across the state and country.
In his post, Bello says he’s “heard from several residents who are frustrated by the presence of abandoned or unkempt properties in their neighborhoods.” But the problem, he says, is not unique to Irondequoit. BY JEREMY MOULE
The Center for Youth will host an information session on Governor Cuomo’s plans to reform the state’s juvenile-justice system
on Tuesday, February 17. New York State is the only state that allows a 16-year-old to be tried as an adult, and some youth advocates want to see the age raised to 21. Elaine Spaull, executive director of CFY, was a member of Cuomo’s Commission on Youth, which developed some of the recommendations. The event will be held at 905 Monroe Avenue, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. BY TIM LOUIS MACALUSO
