Rochester City Council
will hold a public forum at 5 p.m. today (Monday, January 26) on outdoor vending operations
. The meeting is in Council chambers at City Hall, 30 Church Street.
The city launched a downtown food truck pilot program
in 2013. The program was extended to February 2015 while the city develops a permanent program. The purpose of tonight’s forum is to solicit feedback on the recommendations for the permanent program.
Changes are proposed for both food trucks and food carts, including $1,000,000 liability insurance requirements for both. The downtown fee for trucks would increase to $1,000; outside of downtown would be $330. The fee for carts would not change.
City Council should vote on the permanent program at its February 18 meeting. BY CHRISTINE CARRIE FIEN
