UPDATE, Jan. 7, 12:50 p.m.: The City of Rochester's Heat Sweep temporary emergency shelters will end at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 7. All city recreation and community centers will be open for regular programming until 5 p.m. today.

The City of Rochester, in partnership with the American Red Cross of Greater Rochester, is providing temporary emergency shelter at the following city community centers:
Adams Street Community Center: 85 Adams St.;
Campbell Street Community Center: 524 Campbell St.;
David F. Gantt Community Center: 700 North St.
City residents are asked to call 311 if they lose heat or would like to report a neighbor or family member who needs assistance during this time.
In addition, since city schools are closed, the following city recreation and community centers will be open for regular programming from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today:
- Adams Street Community Center, 85 Adams St.;
- Avenue D Community Center, 200 Avenue D;
- Campbell Street Community Center, 524 Campbell St.;
- Carter Street Community Center, 500 Carter St.;
- David F. Gantt Community Center, 700 North St.;
- Edgerton Community Center, 41 Backus St.;
- Flint Street Community Center, 271 Flint St.;
- Roxie Ann Sinkler Recreation Center, 75 Grover St.
- Humboldt Recreation Center, 1045 Atlantic Ave.;
- South Avenue Community Center, 999 South Ave.; and
- Thomas P. Ryan Community Center, 530 Webster Ave.
Also, the city's Department of Environmental Services announced that due to the inclement weather, Tuesday's refuse and recycling collection will not take place. Tuesday's collection will take place on Wednesday and the schedule for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day.
