It looks like Nintendo has listened.
A much more apologetic Satoru Iwata led off today's Nintendo Direct presentation, and in the first chunk of the presentation gave a lot of good news on small, but important fixes to the overall Wii U experience. The Wii U virtual console is coming (with GamePad, Miiverse support), as are two system updates that will fix the load times of the system. Game Boy Advance titles are coming to the service as well, but sadly there was no mention of GameCube games. Miiverse will also be branching out, coming to smartphones sometime in the Spring.
The big news today, though, was games and more games. Iwata apologized for the lack of Nintendo support in January and February, saying that Nintendo decided at the end of last year that the software teams needed more time to reach "Nintendo quality" level.
Then, the reveals. Footage of Platinum Games' "The Wonderful 101," and a sizzle reel for "Bayonetta 2" followed. A brand new Yoshi title-done in the same style as "Kirby's Epic Yarn"- is on the way, and boy is it adorable. "Xenoblade" developer Monolith Soft have a new - currently untitled - title on the way. And a crossover title between the "Fire Emblem" and "Shin Megami Tensei" series is also on the way from a Nintendo and Atlus collaboration.
Already setting the stage for E3, Iwata also revealed that a new 3D Mario title, from the Galaxy team, is on the way, and that, as well as a new "Mario Kart," and the hotly anticipated "Super Smash Bros." titles, will all be shown off at E3.
That's not all though folks! Nintendo also showed off the stunningly-holy-crap-it's-so-pretty "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker," which will be coming to the Wii U in HD this fall. Mention of the new Zelda title was also given, but said development was still too early to show footage.
