A forum on the proposed farm workers fair labor practices act. Specifically, the panelists will address the proposed Farm Worker Fair Labor Practices Act, rejected in the NYS legislature in various forms over the past 25 years. Whom does it help or hurt? It’s premised on basic worker protections as outlined in the 1938 (federal) Fair Labor Standards Act, in which farm workers are not entitled to the many benefits and rights enjoyed by most workers in New York State.
