The City Seen: March 4-6

Notes from the weekend

by

This weekend City went to Gallery R for the opening of "Food: A Celebration of Diversity" on Friday, and then checked out the Greater Rochester Car Show at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Sunday.

The Gallery R exhibit showcased the connection that food and the growing process have in a diverse community. RIT photojournalism student Audrey Horn followed members of the Marketview Heights Collective Action Project through the lens of three local gardens and their impact on the neighborhood. She captured members planting tomatoes together, cooking and canning, enjoying a block party, and selling sofrito on the roadside.

Sunday's car show brought out auto enthusiasts and wide-eyed children alike. Major car manufacturers had the newest 2017 models available to the public to test the feel of the vehicles and answer questions. In addition to the cars, the Rochester Corvette Club brought a 2014 Stingray Convertible to the show, and Mercedes Benz had a 100 percent electric motorcycle on display.
