SPECIAL EVENT | War of 1812 celebration

by

The Genesee Country Village & Museum will revisit the War of 1812 for this weekend. GCV will bring the era of the "forgotten war" to life through re-enactors portraying common characters of the time, such as shopkeepers and merchants, and war-related rolls that will speak about the conflict and its impact on Upstate New York. The weekend will host era-correct activities, like music and dance, and cannon and musket shootings. This will also be the Jane Austen Weekend, with a focus on the fashions and customs of the Regency era in which the writer lived. A Jane Austen fashion show will be put on each day at noon along with musical numbers by Old Fort Niagara, and performances by the Country Dancers of Rochester.

The War of 1812 and Jane Austen Weekend will be held at Genesee Country Village & Museum (1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford) on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is $20 for adults; $17 for those over 62, and for students; $12 for children ages 4 to 16; free for ages 3 and under. www.gcv.org.
