The Wombats are a dancy, quirky trio of musicians from Liverpool, England, who have brazenly thrown themselves into a creative force. There's such momentum behind this guitar-drum-bass trio that it often feels like the lyrics are just trying to keep up. Since its first album, "A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation" (2007), The Wombats have let go of some of the heavier post-punk head-pump for more electronics, melodic hooks, and catchy choruses. "Glitterbug" (2015) showcases this more pop-alt-dance sound and is the album the band is now pumping around the globe.
The Wombats play Saturday, May 2, at the Montage Music Hall, 50 Chestnut Street. 7 p.m. $18-$20. The Wombats will also do a free in-store performance at Record Archive on Saturday, May 2, at 5:30 p.m. montagemusichall.com; thewombats.co.uk.
