The Irish famine time known as The Great Hunger will be remembered Sunday May 19 at St. John Fisher College during a special daylong event called A Rochester Irish Gathering. Famine remembrance Mass at 10 a.m. at Fisher’s Coleman Chapel, followed by remarks from Ancient Order of Hibernians at college’s Famine Memorial. A series of breakout sessions on Irish history, genealogy, music and literature will follow 1 to 4 p.m.
